PUBLISHING MY E-BOOKS

Hi!
It's been a while.
I just want to inform you shortly that I have my four books published on iTunes Store.
They are: Capture It!(Photography Book), 85-89 (Indonesian Novel), Water (Inquiry Based Learning) and Joshua Is Late (A Bilingual Story Book).
Hope you like them.
Oh one more thing, all books are not available within iTunes Indonesia. Therefore, to get one, you need to switch store when you log in. It is easier, if you follow the links below. Why? because you will be given a way to go to iBooks Store launcher. Then, you will be asked if you want to change store since the books you are looking for are not available in iTunes Indonesia Store.
Of course, you need to have Apple ID :)
Here are the links!

MENULIS BLOG LEWAT IPAD

Hai!

Salam!

STOP MOTION + IPAD

Hi!

I just had my "little" project while waiting for a short meeting. I have Stop Motion app in my iPad, then an idea comes.
Using Stop Motion, I took about 114 pictures to make this movie running in 8 frame per second. What is Stop Motion? It is an app that you can download through Apple Apps Store. I forgot how much I bought mine. It might be around $5.
Anyway, enjoy the movie entitled "Pertemuan" or in English we say "Encounter".

cheers,

Hugo

iMovie Training, Why Not?

On November 4th 2013, I had a chance to share my knowledge in using iMovie. I use iMovie 11. I shared my knowledge with some of my colleague in Jakarta International School.

When using iMovie, we need to carefully see the project that we want to create. After choosing new project, then we will need to choose whether we want to make our movie in standard or large size. I recommend the standard size (4:3).

iMovie has a lot of features that can make us produce "almost" professional movie. It has green and blue screen features, picture in picture, split pictures and many more. What i love is sound ducking. You can choose your background song that sometime can be louder or even softer. Here, I will not put the movie sample as but surely will give you the picture (that has been edited using iPhoto). Oh, and I will give you the song that I created using my iPad :) cool, isn't it?

Salam,

Hugo

MACBOOK #TRACKPAD

Enhance Your Trackpad

Some people using MacBook might not know that they can modify the trackpad. How can I modify my MacBook trackpad?
1. On the top left corner of your MacBook monitor, you will see  symbol. Click the symbol and..
2. You will find "System Preferences", click it.
3. Then you will have a dialog box, find trackpad. Once you find it, click the icon.
4. Now, you are ready to change and maximize your trackpad function. Check the box named "tap to click" and other boxes that you think will make your life easier.
Now, you do not need to push your trackpad to click. All you need to do is to tap a little. You have saved some energy :)
Here are some pictures to help you try the steps.

iPAD #SIRI

iPad

"Where is Jakarta?"
That's the first question that I asked to Siri. Who or What is Siri?
According to Apple website, Siri is the intelligent assistant that helps you get things done, just by asking. Talk to Siri as you would to a person: Ask “Do I need an umbrella?” or “Did the Giants win last night?” or “What time is the barbecue on Sunday?” Siri not only understands what you say, it knows what you mean. It figures out the right apps to use to find the right answer. Then, just like a personal assistant, Siri provides you with the information you need. Here is the link Learn more about Siri

Selamat menikmati!

Hugo

GREEN SCREEN USING MACBOOK

I have a MacBook. I have green wall in my school. I have iMovie within my MacBook. Can I make a movie? In February 5, 2013, I just finished another green screen project with Year 6 students. The aim of this project was to support their PYP Exhibition. I always try to persuade other teachers to use technology in line with "what we have" around the school. I think so far, Apple with its MacBook has provided us with some programs to start with. I guess it is a matter of time when other teachers realize what I say. Let's see the video below, shall we?

Note: I use Video Shrinker - an Apple Apps to re-size the video

PYP EXHIBITION (2) - THE PROCESS

As I told you before, I am trying to give you - the readers - a clearer picture of our PYP exhibition process.

In Tunas Muda International School - Meruya Site - few months ago, the students started their PYP exhibition with a front-loading from our PYP-coordinator, Massy Sitompul. Basically, the session was a brainstorming or tuning-in session where the students discussed the concept and skill they had had. Massy was really an inspiration for the students to see all the exhibition preparation sound and alive.

The next step was the finding step. The students have set their exhibition goals. They discussed within their group about the action and product. I had a "wow" moment when one group came to me and asked whether their questions had been good enough to be presented. I looked at their paper and could not believe that it was them making all the questions. The questions were a living proof how they knew how to start critical thinking. All things in the concept-driven questions were there to name a few such as form, change, causation, connection and reflection. Then they asked me if I could join them in an interview with some sources people. Why not?

Here are some pictures when I accompanied them interviewing some experts at Binus University and C'n'S Magazine. More news to come..

Blessing,

Hugo

TMIS PYP EXHIBITION: DIGITAL NATIVES, DIGITAL REPORT

As an IB school, we need to see our students as the children of their decade. The students nowadays are the digital natives. They live their lives with the digital tools. They watch TV, listen to the radio, play PS games, have fun with their ipod, browse internet and many more activities.
Here in Tunas Muda International School, we so much aware on their needs during PYP exhibition. The students had been given a group website, where they can write their digital report on their research. It was not an easy thing to do in he beginning. However, as the digital natives, it took them only 30 minutes to get ready and on board with the websites given.
You may visit their websites under weebly. I do hope you will enjoy and learn a lot from the students. Here are the links:
